LinkText (design)

LinkText is an interactive element that allows users to navigate to a different destination.

Usage

Use a LinkText to take a user to another destination outside the current context.

Options

There are two types of LinkTexts: default and branded.

Default

Use it for system related links like in e.g. login/registration flows. It always has a default appearance with a color-blue-base color.

Branded

A branded LinkText is used in stand-alone context. As the name already implies, the default appearance inherits a brand's primary or secondary font family and color.

A recent manuscript from the University Medical Center (UMC) of Utrecht makes it very concrete how important it is not to waste time. (The article, written by a group of experienced modellers including Mirjam Kretzschmar, has not yet been peer-reviewed.)

Guidelines

LinkText vs. Button

A LinkText is used primarily for navigation, and usually displayed within sentences or as stand-alone text. For actions that are related to CRUD (Create, Read, Update and Delete) views, use a Button component.
